Adega Lavington
Lavington Curve Mall, Lavington, Nairobi
Cuisine: Portuguese
Hello Broke and Bougie fam,
I am always trying to keep it fresh and creative. The constant quest for the best of the best to deliver each week has now brought me to Adega Restaurant, which was long overdue.
According to EatOut Kenya, Adega Restaurant is an upmarket Portuguese restaurant that caters for a variety of tastes and styles. It’s located conveniently in the upmarket Lavington Curve Mall where there is ample safe parking.
The restaurant offers a warm unpretentious ambiance allowing the diner to feast in true Portuguese style, with an aim to extend the highest level of quality of food & service, without losing the personal attention and friendliness of the staff with the management of the restaurant.
Ambiance
Adega is rather stunning and comfortable too. Quiet, with a little background noise from the road that does not really distract from any goings-on or conversation you might have in the restaurant.
The balcony is quiet spacious and airy with the furnaces provide some warmth to mitigate the cold in the late evenings and at night.
Currently they have two branches: At the Lavington curve, which is the venue for the review today, and another at the Two Rivers mall.
The mood lighting and speakers was a nice touch. With soft music, playing in the background gave the perfect backdrop as you had your meal.
Interior wooden panels and furniture made of wood and exterior woven chairs with subtle mood lighting in the roof play a part in accentuating the ambiance.
In addition, just in case you are a family man or woman there is a kids play ground at the far end of the restaurant. The glass screening at the balcony was definitely a good idea to help mitigate strong winds. As it is on the second floor.

Service
The service at Adega was a little 50/50. The waiters were polite but they were not around when I needed help for something. Unfortunately, they disappear occasionally.

Food
Often overcooked, dry and tasteless, the breast is one of the most challenging cuts of chicken to get right. People order them in restaurants because they are lean and low-cal.
For a lot of my friends and myself, grilled chicken is a go to meal. It is usually one of the cheaper menu items, which means that accepting the lack of flavour along with the dryness is some sort of virtuous trade-off.
Therefore, I had to try the grilled chicken.
It was definitely tender. Far from tasteless.
The most interesting part of this dish is that the chicken was infused with a center that was made of cheese and some veggies (most probably it was kale)
When ordering I had no idea it would be like this. However, it was a pleasant surprise.
It worked well with the chicken and definitely gave me a different experience than the norm. The dish is definitely versatile and was served with spinach and feta. The flavours definitely packed a real punch
The fires were quite plain.

Value for Money
At KSH 1350, this may not be your everyday Broke and Boujee meal but for the few occasions that you need to spice it up, I would definitely recommend this.
